One aspect that has been the focus of several major studies is acne and progesterone. It is a well-known fact that acne is the most common chronic skin disorder in the world. It affects millions of people of every age, gender and race every year. Some studies estimate that as much as ninety percent of the world's population will suffer from acne at some point in their lives. It has been discovered that acne and progesterone display several connections in terms of their causes as well as the nature of their treatment. Because of such studies, researchers studying acne and progesterone have concluded that, even though progesterone has no known impact on the sebum glands, a high increase progesterone production in the luteal stage of the menstrual cycle has often left the patient with an acne outbreak. Doctors and medical researchers are proceeding with ever increasing studies to truly understand the connection between acne and progesterone. There are studies showing that acne and progesterone are closely linked to each other as progress has been made helping to eliminate acne by balancing progesterone levels. This is one of the reasons why so many acne medications in the market prominently display progesterone as an ingredient.
